Japan Gets Localized Website from GIA

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is expanding its reach by launching websites in different languages. The latest edition has been a Japanese website which will allow the people of Japan to access GIA’seducative content on gems and jewelry without any linguistic barriers.

GIA’s debut in Japaneseis an attempt by the organization to reach and educate consumers, gem enthusiasts, researchers, retailers, lab clients and students.

Highlighting GIA’s commitment to reach a wider section of people, the organization’s chief learning officer and senior vice president of education, Bev Hori said that the launch of the website was “part of GIA’s commitment to delivering gemological information and instruction in Japan in Japanese.”

He added that since Japan is seen as one of the largest markets for gems and jewelry, it is imperative to provide educational resources to the country. The website will feature curated gemological content, something that is uniquely found only in a GIA website, he said.

The user will be able to select the language from a drop down menu according to his browsing preference. The translated website has more than 1.8 million words divided into various sections such as Gem Encyclopedia, Research and News, Professional Education, Analysis and Grading, and About GIA sections.
